Talisker
Magma 47-Year-Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Talisker 47-Year-Old Magma is a rare, ultra-aged single malt born of Skye’s volcanic origins, released in an exceptionally limited run of just 622 bottles worldwide. Embodying Talisker’s continued pursuit of discovery, this remarkable whisky was first matured in refill American oak hogsheads before being moved to new American oak casks toasted by the heat of volcanic rocks from the Isle of Skye.
The result is an elemental balance of sweet smoke, salt, and spice, a profound expression of Talisker’s rugged coastal spirit. The packaging takes inspiration from the powerful moment when molten lava meets the sea, with bold sculptural textures and fluid forms that capture the dramatic fusion of fire and water at the heart of Talisker’s character.

Tasting Notes
Appearance
Rich, polished copper with bright, clear amber tones. Fine beading even at this strength.
Nose
A mellow nose in feel, with a gentle hint of the classic Talisker chilli-pepper prickle. Distinctly mineral and maritime, led by wet rocks, dry edible seaweed, and salt crystals, backed by sweet Scottish toffee. Scented sandalwood and a trace of hessian follow, with a faint smoky note reminiscent of a distant bonfire. The smoke becomes more pronounced with water.
Palate
Creamy-smooth and silky in texture. Unusually mineral, intense, and lightly sweet, with a pinch of salt joining sweet Scottish toffee at the mid-palate. The warmth builds into an elemental spicy heat, spreading across the tongue like lava flowing from the earth’s core. Volcanic smoke and sweetness interweave, creating the signature Talisker balance. The chilli ‘catch’ at the back is smoother yet still present. Water reduces intensity and enhances the mineral note.
Body
Medium to full.
Finish
Long, spicy, and warming, with mouth-cooling notes of Sichuan chilli pepper. A long, glowing aftertaste — magnificent and enduring.
