After more than four decades of closure, the iconic Port Ellen distillery has been reborn. This historic opening is a celebration for not just Islay, but the entire whisky world. Port Ellen has been re-envisioned for the future, merging the success of its storied past with its trailblazing plans for the future.
Designed for the future to push the boundaries of Scotch
Port Ellen holds a bold vision to be a trailblazing light for the future of whisky distillation with an experimental edge and striking ultra modern design, holding the primary mission to chart the mysterious flavours and dimensions of smoke. At its heart are two pairs of copper stills. The Phoenix stills have been recreated as an exact replica of the original stills from 1983, and will run alongside a smaller set of Experimental stills, to allow for innovation to flourish from inception. The standout addition of a Ten Part Spirit Safe allows multiple cuts to be drawn from the heart of the run. With this new innovation, distillers are able to access unexplored flavours and characters, propelling the art of whisky-making to new heights of intricacy and complexity.

Guests will explore the way Port Ellen examines every facet of flavour, particularly through its understanding of smoke.
